What a Service Visit Includes

A technician matched through our network will typically inspect the unit, confirm the fault, and quote the repair before starting work. Depending on the equipment, a visit can include output or calibration verification (resistance and console function), replacement of worn parts such as lead wires, cables, pads, cords and casters, a functional check of every mode, and an electrical safety test. You get a written service record for each unit with the serial number, work performed, results and sign-off, which is what surveyors, accreditors and insurers ask to see. See a sample service report.

Repair or Replace?

Commercial NuStep equipment is generally built to be serviced, and many failures are parts-level repairs. Replacement starts to make sense when parts are no longer available, the unit has several failures at once, or repeated repairs cost more than half the price of a newer model. Your technician can give you a repair estimate first so you can decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most NuStep repairs, including resistance, seat, handle and pedal issues, are done on site by a technician with the right parts.
Follow the manufacturer's preventive maintenance schedule. Units in all-day use in a clinic or SNF gym benefit from at least annual inspection of the seat, handles, pedals and resistance system.
Patients often transfer onto the seat from a wheelchair. A seat that doesn't lock reliably is a fall risk and should be taken out of use until it's repaired.
